Folded Carton Packaging Printing

Folded carton packaging printing is a great way to add value to your products and enhance your brand. How you package your products is almost as important as the product itself. When you use good quality packaging, consumers perceive better quality in the contents – and vice versa. Even the best products will struggle for sales if they’re packed in a poorly designed or low-quality folded carton. Folded Carton Packaging Printing The good news is that, with customized packaging printing, you can have that feeling of quality without breaking the bank.

What Are Folded Cartons?

Sometimes called folding cartons, folded cartons can be used for packing virtually any type of dry goods or products. The best example we can offer is the ubiquitous banker box. You buy these handy, file storage boxes in the office supply store, flat as a pancake. You get them back to the office and, after following a few simple steps – a fold here, a tuck there – you have a strong, durable three-dimensional box. Another fold or two and you have a separate lid that fits perfectly on the box. Think of any three-dimensional paperboard or cardboard packaging and, chances are, it was once a two-dimensional, flat object. This includes cereal boxes, six-pack bottle carriers, donut boxes and those cute, little Chinese food take-out containers. Those are all folded cartons.

How Do You Design the Perfect Folded Carton Packaging?

All good packaging starts with a design. To design a folding carton, we start by looking at what goes inside. Let’s say you sell custom-blended fragrances. Using the exterior dimension of the perfume bottle, we know that the box must hold an object that is five inches tall, three inches wide and one inch deep. Next, we figure out how you want to seal the box. You can glue one end and have the top tuck in, or you could simply have both ends tuck so you don’t have to mess with gluing. Using these specifications, we can then develop a flat configuration that will run through the printing equipment. It should look something like this. How Does Folded Carton Packaging Printing Work?

You can purchase folding carton blanks in a wide variety of sizes. If you can find one that fits your product precisely, you could choose that option. Or you can specify a custom size that your printing company can die-cut and pre-fold for you. The flat carton goes through the printer, where each panel of the carton is printed at once, in the correct orientation. When the box is assembled, it should look something like this (third image) If your printing company also offers packaging and fulfillment services, they can handle every aspect of the process, including shipping to an end-user or retail outlet, if you so desire.
